Ontario Provincial Police in Red Rock have arrested three residents following the execution of a search warrant in the community on December 8th.
Members with the Nipigon Detachment with assistance from the Emergency Response Team and the Criminal Investigation Branch executed the warrant at a residence on Highway 628 within the township.
Officers located and seized four firearms along with a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine, worth an estimated $1,000.
A 43 year old Red Rock man has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to Section 4 (1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to Section 86 (1) of the Criminal Code (CC).
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime, contrary to Section 96 (1) of the CC.
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada, contrary to Section 345 (1) (a) of the CC.
Meanwhile another 43 year old Red Rock man and a 33 year old Red Rock woman face the following charges:
- Adult Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime, contrary to Section 96 (1) of the CC.
- Adult Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada, contrary to Section 345 (1) (a) of the CC.
The three accused have been released from custody and are expected to appear in Nipigon court on March 7th, 2023, to answer to the charges.
