Thunder Bay city council’s committee of the whole got off to an interesting, and for at least one person, a celebratory start. As city manager Norm Gale informed council that city treasurer, Linda Evans, will be retiring in late February.
Evans joined the city in 2016 and, in addition to being the city’s treasurer, has also held the title of general manager of corporate services and long-term care since 2017.
Fortunately for city council, which includes five new members, her retirement will not occur until after the budget is finalized over the course of January and February.
Starting today the city will being seeking her replacement with the intention of having Evans’ successor hired prior to her departure.
