In a post to social media late Friday, Kiiwetinoong M-P-P Sol Mamakwa says will not seek the leadership of Ontario’s New Democrats.
I will not be pursuing this role at this time. Leadership for me is a very serious consideration and my top priority is to continue being a voice for Kiiwetinoong and First Nations people across Ontario.
Mamakwa has represented Kiiwetinoong since it was formed in 2018 following a Provincial Electoral Boundaries Commission.
Those seeking the leadership have until today to put their name forward, and a new leader will be selected in March of 2023.
So far only one person has put their name forward to stand for the leadership of the NDP, Davenport MPP Marit Stiles.
