This week will be a double feature for Thunder Bay City Council here is what you need to know.
On Monday those elected on October 24th will arrive in council chambers at 6:30 p.m. for a swearing in ceremony. The ceremony will feature a Colour Party marched from the Royal Canadian Legion in featuring The Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay.
Following that Elder Sheila DeCorte will offer a smudge ceremony along with a song and drum performance from Orville Councillor of Naicatchewenin First Nation, then Laura Daniele will sing the national anthem.
Incoming Mayor Ken Boshcoff along with members of City Council will then be administered the Declaration of Elected Office and the Oath of Allegiance to His Worship.
Boshcoff will then present his Inaugural Address to the Fifty-Fourth Thunder Bay City Council.
Acting Mayors will then be appointed for 2022-2023, before the meeting is adjourned and Elder DeCorte will lead members of council in a closing ceremony.
On the following evening, Tuesday November 29th, the first official Committee of the Whole and City Council meeting will commence where councillors will be appointed to various boards along with the appointments of Chairs and Vice Chairs for Committee of the Whole for 2022-2024.
