For 77 years the Victorian Order of Nurses have worked within Thunder Bay providing care for those who need it in a variety of ways.
Now with a new office at the Arthur Street Medical Clinic Senior Manager Robert Kilgour believes his organization is now home, nestled at the heart other medical care specialists.
“VON in its history, has always been in the community, in the centre of the community, identifying the needs and the gaps. So what better place to be than amongst practitioners to find out what is going on, to be able to support them.”
The organization provides several wrap around services starting from the simple end such as lawn care, snow removal and home health programming all the way up to and including PSW services and visiting nursing services.
Kilgour notes the move to the 6th floor of the building also provides mental health care for his employees.
“Something as simple as having a window and being able to look out at what they have in front of them, the Sleeping Giant on one side the Norwesters on the other, just a tremendous little boost for them to be able to get them through their day when things can be difficult in healthcare.”
The Victorian Order of Nurses employs 130 people both at its office and in the field.
