Choosing to buy locally can make a big impact on the city, especially with continued high costs across the board.
The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce is launching their #ChooseTBayFirst holiday campaign to remind residents to shop local, especially as the holiday season approaches.
From November 14 to December 1st, people who use the hashtag #ChooseTBayFirst on social media can be entered into a draw for a $1,000 gift card to use at a Thunder Bay based business.
Chamber President, Charla Robinson said in the release that the Chamber has been working with the business community on ways to encourage consumers to explore what’s here in Thunder Bay;
This campaign gives community members like you and I the opportunity to have a voice and to showcase what we love most about supporting local.
This campaign also focuses on the benefits to the shoppers themselves. Supporting a local business gives you, the shopper, an opportunity to connect with entrepreneurs and business owners who give back. They employ Thunder Bay people, pay municipal taxes, donate to local causes and in turn continue to help build thriving neighbourhoods. Shopping local is also very personal, you’re examining your purchases firsthand for quality, suitability, and you know what you are getting before you buy…
More than 177 local businesses are participating in the event, with all the details available here.
