Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue are looking into the cause of a structural fire which occurred just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday on Peter Street.
While crews were on route a large amount of smoke could be seen and a second alarm was put out, requesting additional equipment and personnel.
Fortunately the lone occupant of the building managed to get out quickly and was treated on scene by Superior North EMS for smoke inhalation.
Once knowing the building was unoccupied, firefighters began exterior suppression to bring the fire under control before entering the building to extinguish the fire.
TBFR says the building suffered structural and smoke damage as a result of the fire.
