Thunder Bay Police have seized nearly 200 thousand dollars in cocaine and arrested two people after executing several search warrants in the city’s North side.
This comes as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking. Police first executed a warrant at an Algoma Street South business at 435pm yesterday afternoon, where they located a significant quantity of cocaine and currency and arrested a 34-year-old Toronto man and a 15-year-old city youth.
Police then followed with a second raid at a Bay Street residence 30 minutes later. There more cocaine was located, along with a fake drivers licence, bullets, drug trafficking equipment and a luxury watch worth approximately 85 thousand dollars.
A vehicle was also involved and was searched with another significant quantity of cocaine being located.
Estimates of the cash seized during the investigation is believed to exceed 50 thousand dollars.
The 34-year-old from the GTA has been charged with the following:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 • Possession of an Identity DocumentMeanwhile the 15-year-old Thunder Bay youth faces charges of:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000Their name is being withheld due to provisions within the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The youth was released with conditions and a future appearance date, while the 34-year-old appeared in court today and was remanded into custody.
