Nipigon OPP have arrested two Thunder Bay residents following an incident in the Township of Red Rock on October 11th.
Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the community where the discovered the two accused, a 43-year-old male and a 39-year-old female, had assaulted an individual. Fortunately the victim received only minor injuries. Further investigation revealed the male was in possession of a small quantity, approximately 20 grams, of methamphetamine.
As a result the 43-year-old faces the following charges:
· Assault with a Weapon, contrary to Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
· Failure to Comply with a Release Order, contrary to Section 145(5)(a) of the CC
· Fail to comply with a Probation Order, contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the CC
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
He was held in custody following the incident and appeared in bail court on Wednesday.
Meanwhile the 39-year-old faces a single charge:
· Assault with a Weapon, contrary to Section 267(a) of the CC
She was released on an undertaking and is expected to appear in Nipigon Court on December 13th.
