The annual campaign for Hospice Northwest has kicked off.
As a not-for-profit, Hospice Northwest is looking to raise $30,000 that will help fund its programs.
In an interview with Executive Director, Cherie Kok, she discussed that the campaign funds will specifically help a new program called HUUG (Help Us Understand Grief).
HUUG is a program to help children grieve the loss of a loved one, Cherie said this program is similar to one found in Toronto;
This is a much needed and invaluable service in our community, as there are no other programs like it in Northwestern Ontario.
In a written statement, it was indicated that the new program doesn’t receive any ongoing funding, but instead must rely on the “generosity of private donors to support these vulnerable children”
Funding campaigns have been happening since 2017, with last year’s goal of $22,500 being surpassed.
