Health benefits and job security is where workers will see the most gains.
There was lots of headbutting from the province and OPSEU on the wage increases, with the union representing 55,000 asking for a $3.25/year raise, but the Ford government capped them at one per cent as it falls within Bill 124.
“Despite our bargaining being significantly and unfairly restricted by Bill 124, we have still made some substantial gains in job security, job competition and benefits,” says OPSEU/SEFPO College Support Full-Time Bargaining Team Chair Rasho Donchev. “We are especially pleased about the gains we’ve made to our health benefits – the most significant improvements to our health benefits in the past 15 years.”
