In another step to recognize the tragedies of residential schools and the horrendous experiences that Indigenous people have gone through, Lakehead University has created a new permanent crosswalk in the Agora Circle in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation.
The feather adorned crosswalk is in honour of the Every Child Matters initiative. It will be permanent at Lakehead University and the flag will be on display for the month is September. This event took place at both Lakehead Campuses; in Thunder Bay and in Orillia located in Central Ontario.
Truth and Reconciliation Day is observed on Sept. 30th across Canada.
