School buses have gotten some upgrades over the summer for better student and driver safety.
All school buses in Ontario will now have both red and yellow flashing lights.
Just like stop lights, if a driver sees the orange lights flashing on a bus it’s a warning that that bus is about to stop.
Once the red lights start flashing, drivers must stop to allow children to board safely.
The province increased the penalty with a fine between $400 and $2,000, along with six demerit points for a first offence. Fines increase after that and so does the risk of jail time.
