There’s lots of construction happening on various city roads.
Acadia News reached out to Kayla Dixon, who is the city’s Director of Engineering & Operations for an update.
Central Ave
- Paving on Central Ave is being completed this year from Fort William Rd to the Overpass and should be finishing up soon
River St Sinkhole
- Council approved more cash for the project to pre-purchase of material to repair the culverts and to tender and award the construction to the lowest qualified bid to facilitate the repairs of the culverts this year
- Delivery of materials will still delay the start of work into the fall.
- River St will remain closed until construction is complete
Road Aesthetics
- Line painting on arterial and collector roadways began in the spring and will continue throughout the summer
- Crosswalks and stop bars around schools will be done near the end of August so it looks fresh before the school year begins
- The Pride crosswalks at Donald/May & Algoma/Bay were completed last week using thermoplastics
- Street sweeping on arterial and collector roadways is complete
- Residential sweeping is expected to be completed within the next two weeks
