Some of the US lotteries can get up into the hundred of millions, and on a few occasions into the billions with a capital B.
The Mega Millions lottery jackpot is now at $1.02 billion because no one has bought a ticket that matches all six numbers since mid April.
With the jackpot sitting at $1.02 billion, if the winner chooses to be paid out annually it will happen over the course of 30 years (approximately $33,500,000 gross/year).
If the winner chooses to receive the cash prize, that’s estimated to be $602.5 million in a lump sum payment.
The biggest Mega Millions jackpot was $1.537 billion, and was won in South Carolina on October 2018.
Tickets aren’t sold outside of the US, but Canadians CAN buy them if visiting our southern neighbours.
And don’t forget, US taxes are applicable… but at that rate, it’s merely pocket change.
