Thunder Bay Police Chief Sylvie Hauth has handed in her retirement notice.
In an email Thursday, the Chief noted that she gave her intent to the Thunder Bay Police Services Board (TBPSB) to walk away after June 14, 2023, 30 years after she began with the force.
“I have dedicated myself to organizational change within our Service, in a collaborative, consistent and transparent way. I can say with confidence that the Thunder Bay Police Service will continue to evolve thanks to the people who remain focused on serving and protecting all members of this great community,” Hauth said, in the statement.
Hauth hopes that with a years notice, the board will be able to find her replacement.
Hauth went onto say that she remains committed to her role as Chief and will do everything she can to ensure a proper transition takes place with the newly appointed Chief in 2023.
