Re-enforcing the message that the Thunder Bay Police Services Board is on the brink of collapse.
Member Georjann Morriseau, following up on her statement released on January 17th, outlined her allegations against the board and stressed she wants to speak for others who cannot.
Morriseau maintains that the board has no effective governance structure, a lack of accountability when it comes to managing public resources, and improper investigations are getting money and resources.
Morriseau and her lawyer Chantelle Bryson also made the following claim about the membership, “(Police) leadership employs tactics of harassment and discrimination, particularly targeting members of the service who challenge status quo and report varying degrees of misconduct, some of which is potentially criminal. Leadership takes action against both active members of the service and those who are off on medical leave suffering from PTSD and specific mental health issues. These actions are the actions of a morally bankrupt leadership at the police service.”
Morriseau was appointed as a Commissioner for four years to the Thunder Bay Police Services Board in 2018.
Morriseau and Bryson say complaints have been filed with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, however the Police Services Board stressed in November that they have not received any official complaints from Morriseau.
Thursday’s conference came to an abrupt end after other users took over the live video and proceeded to broadcast highly inappropriate video and images.
Board Chair Kristen Oliver, in a written statement, maintains that the group is united, working well and far from collapse.
