The Salvation Army is making sure everyone has a Christmas dinner this year.
It’s the 27th Annual Community Christmas Dinner for anyone experiencing difficulties. It is being offered in a drive thru or walk up format because of the ongoing pandemic.
The Valhalla Inn is continuing their tradition of pitching in, and are providing all the food for the holiday meals.
Executive Director of the Salvation Army Journey to Life Centre Gary Ferguson says the difficulties brought on by COVID-19 make this year’s event even more important.
“I think many people in the community are still struggling as it has continued to go on,” explained Ferguson. “Unfortunately because of the pandemic, we cannot have a sit down event as we have done in the past, but again, it is very important to bring that cheer to people that need it in our community.”
The event is taking place Dec. 12, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone who needs it can pick up a turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the Salvation Army Journey to Life Centre, at 545 Cumberland St. N.
