One of the country’s largest cultural events has kicked off, with countless events and activities being held in Thunder Bay.
Culture Days is an annual celebration in Canada that runs until Sunday, October 24th.
This city itself will be hosting events, along with Thunder Bay Art Gallery, Thunder Bay Museum, Vox Popular Media Arts and more.
Supervisor of Cultural Development and Events Louisa Costanzo explains more, saying this is something that has grown over time.
“It used to be a weekend and now it’s four weeks,” explains Costanzo. “It is activities that are cultural activities throughout the community, throughout the province, and across the country. They are either free or pay what you may. There’s so much stuff going on.”
Costanzo goes on to explain why events such as this are so significant.
“It’s important to celebrate local culture, and it’s one of the reasons we love to live where we live,” said Costanzo. “Thunder Bay has a lot of amazing cultural organizations, artists, talent, and artisans. It’s important to celebrate all the work they do and contribute to our community.”
Some of the events include a book launch, art projects, and walking tours.
