Ontario Liberal Leader Stephen Del Duca is looking to have to province implement a vaccine passport.
Along with this Del Duca is asking for the mandatory vaccination of frontline healthcare and education workers.
The Opposition Leader says precautions such as these are crucial to mitigating the dangers of a fourth wave.
“We called on Doug Ford to begin the work, in fact the work should have begun months ago, to urgently start the work to produce a reliable, standardized, vaccine certificate,” says Del Duca. “I’m was going to say if there’s going to be a fourth wave, though many reports suggest that we’re already in a fourth wave. Whether we’re in one or one is coming, that it be as minimal as possible. There have been far too many lives lost tragically during this pandemic and far too many businesses, particularly small businesses that have been closed forever.”
Del Duca is also hoping for a meeting between the party leaders of Ontario.
“I am asking Doug Ford to meet with us, all three of Ontario’s opposition party leaders so that we can discuss mandatory vaccinations for frontline healthcare workers and education workers, and the creation of a reliable province wide standardized vaccination certificate.”
Various groups such as the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and the Ontario Medical Association have started advocating for mandatory vaccinations for healthcare workers.
