A return to the movies in Thunder Bay.
SilverCity staff have been working all week in preparation for Step 3 of the province’s Roadmap To Reopen on Friday.
Under Step 3 cinemas are allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity or a maximum of 1,000 people for seated events, whichever number is less.
“For every seat that’s purchased, three seats on either side will be blocked off plus the seats in front and behind, so that will limit our capacity,” says theatre manager Stephanie Chase. “Our cast were so excited about coming back in, it was incredible! We did have a lot of our staff come back for re-training and we can’t wait to open the doors.”
Even though the theatre was closed to the public, Chase says regular maintenance was required especially with the projectors.
“There was content run every single week to make sure that the picture and sound are both good. We needed to ensure that everything was in shape and ready to go when we were allowed to open back up,” added Chase.
Along with hand sanitizing stations and markers on the floor, the cleaning efforts of staff will be ramped up.
“We have a seat fogger so they will mist all the seats in between shows, they don’t stay damp it dries very quickly but it’s a peroxide based cleaner and will keep the seats clean for the next guest,” mentions Chase.
SilverCity will open it’s doors at 11:30 a.m. Friday with the first showing scheduled for Noon.
