The next head of St. Joseph’s Care Group is looking forward to getting familiar with the organization.
Kelli O’Brien will be taking over from Tracy Buckler in early September this year.
O’Brien says her first goal once she starts is to get a thorough understanding of what St. Joe’s does well, and why.
“And apply those principals to perhaps understand where there’s opportunity for improvement, so I’ll be working with leaders and the team to better understand what are the challenges and what are some of the enablers of our successes,” she says.
O’Brien also wants to prepare St. Joe’s for its next grading from Accreditation Canada, a federal peer-review board, suggesting she wants to live up to the high marks they received last time.
“[It’s] a pretty significant honour for an organization to receive that standing, so our focus will be on preparing as well for our next survey cycle in 2022. That will definitely be one of my go-to things as well when I begin within the organization,” she notes.
O’Brien is currently in Newfoundland and will be visiting Thunder Bay later this month before moving to the city in the fall.
