The Folklore Festival is switching to a virtual format due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Chairs the Volunteer Organizing Committee made the announcement Wednesday.
“No event the size of the Folklore Festival, run annually by the Thunder Bay Multicultural Association and the Folklore Festival Organizing Committee, could run and certainly should not be running in 2021 for a number of reasons, including the safety of all visitors, performers, vendors, volunteers, and participants,” said spokesperson Jeanetty Jumah, in a statement.
The festival will be run on their website the May 1-2 weekend.
Organizers hope to hold an in person festival in 2022.
