Hurricane Teddy will move into Canadian waters this week.
It is currently a category 2 with wind speeds of 165 km/h and is about 1600 kilometres south of Halifax.
Warning Preparedness Meteorologist for Environment Canada Bob Robichaud says the storm will start in the province on Tuesday. “We will see some wind starting to increase across Nova Scotia on Tuesday with some rain moving in roughly at the same time.”
Robichaud says the strongest winds will be in Guysborough Co. and eastern Cape Breton at over 100 km/h.
He adds the storm could bring up to 100 millimetres of rain and the worst will be overnight, making landfall between Halifax and Cape Breton.
