The village of Kakabeka Falls is getting a new EMS station.
Oliver-Paipoonge Mayor Lucy Kloosterhuis tells us it will be replacing the one currently in the Township of Conmee in an effort to centralize paramedic services in that rural area.
She says they have been discussing the new building for several years.
Kloosterhuis says the community will be borrowing about $1 million to pay for the construction and Superior North EMS will pay to rent the building until the cost of the loan is paid off.
The official sod turning for the new EMS facility is taking place today.
