A local woman is honoured to be recognized for her volunteer work.
Pat Towell got the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers from the Governor General and says it’s very fulfilling to help her community.
“I volunteer at quite a few different places and play music for seniors,” she explains. “I work with the children at [St. Paul’s Anglican Church] as well as working at Shelter House.”
The local volunteer says she enjoys performing with the Klown Band for seniors at local retirement homes each week.
As soon as we start to play our music and dance and sing, everyone comes alive, and everyone just enjoys it so much. When you chat with each person, they’re young again. It’s just the most wonderful feeling,” Towell says.
