Thunder Bay Transit routes are changing to a modified Sunday schedule next week.
Starting on Monday, buses will run every 45 minutes, with most routes operating from 6 A.M. to 11 P.M.
There are shorter hours for four routes that normally don’t run on Sundays.
Route 4 will operate Monday to Friday from 6:30 A.M. to 6 P.M. and Saturday from 7 A,M. to 6 P.M.
Thunder Bay Transit will offer by-reservation evening transit service to help workers who normally rely on Route 4 to get to and from essential workplaces. It will use LIFT+ vans and run from 6:30 P.M. to 10:45 P.M. Monday to Saturday. However, you will have to book your trip at least one day ahead by calling Thunder Bay Transit’s LIFT+ booking line between 10 am and 4 pm at 345-0777.
Route 6 hours are Monday to Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 6:30 P.M.
Route 12 runs Monday to Saturday from 6:20 A.M. to 7 P.M., while Route 16 will operate Monday to Saturday from 6:20 A.M. to 6 P.M.
“The City’s decision to reduce transit hours and frequency is being done in an effort to be vigilant in the City’s response and planning related to declining ridership due to COVID-19,” said Brad Loroff, Manager of Transit Services.
The city is reminding you to only use transit for essential trips.
