Thunder Bay’s Health Unit is reiterating the key points to keeping the spread of COVID-19 down in its latest update to the public.
The Medical Officer of Health spoke on social media last night through the Health Unit’s Facebook page.
Dr. Janet DeMille says with people returning from abroad and March break trips it’s important for those returning travellers to stay isolated in their homes for 14-days.
“People who are returning from travel from outside of Canada can bring the virus back to this area, this means those people could lead to a significant spread of the virus in our communities,” DeMille says.
DeMille notes she is glad those who were abroad were able to make it back home and says if they notice they have COVID-19 symptoms they should call Telehealth or the Thunder Bay Health Unit.
She notes if you know someone who is self-isolating you can help them out by dropping off groceries for them and leaving them outside of their home.
For those residents who are working from home and trying to limit their exposure to public spaces like grocery stores, DeMille suggests limiting your travel in the community.
She suggests you plan ahead on your grocery shopping trip and limit your exposure noting she is cutting her trips down to the store to once a week.
There are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Thunder Bay.
