Thunder Bay is getting some attention from a national travel magazine.
The city’s Tourism Manager is happy about the recent feature in CAA Magazine on local attractions to visit during the city’s 50th anniversary.
It lists restaurants and activities on the city’s north and south sides.
Paul Pepe explains these type of spotlights are good for local business because they help draw in tourists and travellers. He points out that both the Canadian Automobile Association and its American counterpart reach some of Thunder Bay’s “key consumers.”
“More than just buying a display ad, what we call ‘earned media’–articles that are written, content that is written both in print and online, radio and television as well–all play a very important role in selling Thunder Bay to our consumers,” Pepe explains.
The tourism official believes the travel magazine will bring in people doing the Lake Superior Circle Tour, which he feels is one of the area’s biggest draws for tourism. Pepe adds the one-page feature will give a boost to the establishments being highlighted.
