A group of younger City Councillors from across the northwest are banding together to call for the removal of controversial Dryden Senator Lynn Beyak.
They say they are coming together to speak out on an issue which continues to “sow shame in our region, to bring disrepute to our communities, and to signal-boost racism in our midst.”
The group of young municipal representatives in the region include Fort Frances’ Douglas Judson, Kenora’s Krisi Ralko, Thunder Bay’s Cody Fraser and Shelby Ch’ng, Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Andrew Nisly, Joe Cassidy from Sioux Lookout and Daniel Sutton of Ear Falls.
The seven councillors say if the Senator will not resign, they want the Senate to do everything in its power to vacate her seat so that the privilege of serving in the Red Chamber may be extended to an individual who is capable of standing with the people of our region.
Beyak has been under fire for denying the impact of the Residential School System. You can read our previous stories and the full statement below.
