If you and your family are looking for a change of pace and scenery, this might be for you!
The council for the Greek island called Antikythera has announced that their government is prepared to pay families to live there in an attempt to revive the small community.
The island, located between Kythera and Crete in the Mediterranean Sea, is part of the municipality of Kythera. It currently only has about 24 permanent residents, which is why they’ve decided to offer families free accommodations and food in return for living there and helping to renew the economy. In addition they will give each family approximately $740 a month ($500 euros).
The council president, Andreas Harhalakis, said in a recent interview that they are especially looking for those willing to work as bakers, builders and fisherman, as these professions will guarantee a decent income for those who decide to make the move.
