I’m celebrating Loretta Lynn‘s 87th birthday with some of her biggest duet partners as my Classic Country Legend. Her most successful partnership was with Conway Twitty. For four consecutive years (1972–1975), Loretta and Conway were named the “Vocal Duo of the Year” by the Country Music Association. The two are the most successful and most awarded male/female duet teams in country music history. They had 5 consecutive number one hits between 1971 and 1975 starting off with their first release “After The Fire is Gone.”
Before joining up with Twitty, Loretta recorded duets with Ernest Tubb. They put out three albums starting with Mr. and Mrs. Used To Be in 1965, followed by Singin’ Again in 1967 and ending in 1969 with If We Put Our Heads Together, which included a great song “Who’s Gonna Take the Garbage Out”.
I’ve got 2 other great duets with Twitty and Tubb, coming up on UNCLE ED’S COUNTRY DEN, brought to you by Christina’s Home and Garden, not just gardening and landscaping. Visit their website for more information!
