Emotions are running high among organizers of a truck convoy heading to Ottawa that wants the federal government to build pipelines and grow the energy sector.
After arriving with about 100 trucks in Thunder Bay Saturday, Glen Carritt told us they’ll do this again if the Prime Minister still doesn’t listen.
“We’ve had rally after rally in BC, and Alberta and Saskatchewan. 2000 trucks in Nisku, and we’ve had every weekend for about 6 weeks, we’ve had a rally, convoys, and they haven’t listened to us out there.”
The organizer was visibly touched when noting support Canadians have shown this convoy all over the country.
He claims Justin Trudeau will show he’s disconnected from Canadians if he doesn’t pay attention.
“We’re hoping to make that statement, and abolish Bill C48 and C69, and some pipelines going immediately, and get the carbon tax abolished, it’s not helping Canada at all. All it’s doing is feeding the overspending of an out of control government.”
A Thunder Bay woman supporting the convoy is skeptical the federal government will pay attention.
Lisa Kleinsasser’s husband works in Alberta and overseas for Canada, and fully supports western Canada’s oil sector.
“Why are we paying to get Saudi oil in Canada? It’s crazy, we need to be able to use Canada’s resources, and they’re available, we need to be using them. And, supplying jobs for these people who want to work.”
The local woman hopes Canadians will make a change next federal election if Justin Trudeau doesn’t listen.
The convoy heads to Sault Ste. Marie Sunday morning.
