A birthday for Elvis’s only child Lisa Marie, who was born this week in 1968 to Elvis and Priscilla Presley.
Elvis had a craving for a one-of-a-kind sandwich, known as a Fool’s Gold Loaf, which became known as the King’s favourite food.
This week in 1976 he took his private jet, the Lisa Marie, on a midnight flight from Memphis to Denver for the sandwich from eatery, the Colorado Mine Company.
The sandwich was a hollowed out loaf of French bread, with a whole jar of peanut butter, a jar of grape jelly and a pound of bacon, and later bananas.
It was an incredible 8,000 calories that Elvis would consume.
I’ve also got a song from Presley released this week in 1970, coming up after 9 on Uncle Ed’s Country Den.
