On one of the coldest mornings of the year, residents of a home at 746 Porcupine Boulevard were forced onto the street because of a fire.
The 9-1-1 call came in at 8:20 this morning.
According to a Thunder Bay Fire Service platoon chief, says the blaze started in the attached garage, but exactly what caused it is still under investigation.
Mark Ferrence says the occupants of the home escaped safely after they heard their smoke alarm go off.
He says the garage sustained most of the fire damage with the house itself getting “moderate smoke damage.”
Ferrence adds, there was no vehicle in the garage because full of “various other stuff.”
