A gas pricing analyst in Canada is encouraged the Competition Bureau of Canada will be reviewing gas prices in northwestern Ontario.
Dan McTeague of gasbuddy.com, can’t say though whether the investigation will make a difference.
He notes a good start would be to ask how gas stations here can have a profit margin of about 24 cents a litre, about double what other stations charge in the country.
McTeague notes prices have already come down substantially since the investigation was requested by northwestern Ontario MPP Greg Rickford.
He’s also calling the review a warranted wake up for oil companies.
