Ontario PCs have voted to debate what they call “gender identity theory”.
Conservative party members held their annual convention this weekend, where they voted on a party policy resolution which calls the idea gender identity unscientific “liberal ideology” and argues the concept shouldn’t be taught in schools.
They approved the motion for further discussion.
Gender identity was a topic covered in the now-scrapped 2015 sex education curriculum, a replacement for which has not been officially announced yet.
The NDP are sounding alarm bells about the resolution.
The NDP’s Education Critic Marit Stiles is calling the move dangerous, adding it would hurt transgender youth.
Today, in front of the Ontario PC Convention, I called on Doug Ford to denounce these dangerous resolutions. To the LGBTQ community & particularly LGBTQ youth in Ontario today: We will continue to stand with you. You are supported. You are loved. #NDP https://t.co/TqvtBKgKxw
