There is an implied vote of confidence for the local Bombardier plant from the province’s infrastructure minister.
Laurie Scott’s comment follows news her government has announced a $28.5 billion subway transit plan for the greater Toronto area.
Scott, states the government wants to get more work for Bombardier and to “keep people and their jobs here so…when you hear more transit projects coming to the City of Toronto it’s good news for Thunder Bay and Bombardier.”
Meantime union official Dominic Pasqualino is also hopeful Bombardier officials will get to bid on any new subway cars for the plan.
He says anytime “more money is allocated for transit that’s…potential work for Thunder Bay that (they) desperately need at this time.”
