Canada Day is here and our local Members of Parliament are expressing their thoughts.
For Thunder Bay-Superior North MP Bruce Hyer, Canada Day has some special significance.
Hyer says that’s because he was born in the United States and we are his adopted home.
He says an an immigrant who came here by choice not by chance, he appreciates Canada because it has an abundance of beautiful natural resources and unbelievable opportunity.
Hyer says it’s important for all Canadians not to take our freedoms for granted.
For Thunder Bay-Rainy River MPP John Rafferty, Canada Day is a time for him to take stock.
He says it’s like New Years Day, a new beginning and time to rededicate himself to the challenges that face us like equality and fairness.
Rafferty says he will start the day visiting Fort Frances moving on to Atikokan and then to Thunder Bay. (File photos)
