Confederation College faculty are back to work.
Legislation passed over the weekend means that the strike is over, and college officials say classes will start on Tuesday.
President Jim Madder says students will resume their coursework where they left off in October, and work until December 22nd.
Students in most programs are expected to finish the Fall semester in mid-January, with the winter semester starting in late January after a short break.
The Winter semester is expected to finish by May 11th.
“I have a great deal of confidence in everyone, our faculty, staff, and students, of getting back to business,” Madder says, but admits he expects some speedbumps during the first week back.
“You just don’t go away through a five-week strike and have everything smooth.”
He adds that talks between faculty and their employer will pick back up in the next couple of weeks.
“The arbitrator will work with the College Employer Council and with OPSEU, will hear their views on each issue as to where it should be settled,” Madder explains.
Any decisions made by the arbitrator wil be final. (File Photo)
