The industrial mercury pollution at the mouth of the Current River is causing great concern for the councillor in that ward.
Andrew Foulds is demanding the site be identified by federal environmental officials as being contaminated so the mercury can be removed once and for all.
“It’s going to cost tens of millions of dollars depending on what option is chosen to clean it up. We need someone to take the lead, to have it identified as the site, and have someone clean it up.”
Foulds claims he’s losing his patience on the length of time it’s taking to get the problem dealt with. (File photo)
