It's New Year's Eve and that means Thunder Bay Police and the Ontario Provincial Police will be out on the streets.
OPP Constable Anne McCoy says people celebrating can take steps to ensure other's don't get behind the wheel while drunk. If you're holding a party then try to make sure guests have a safe way to get home or a place to stay overnight to help injury or death from happening.
McCoy also recommends party-goers consider alternatives such as having a designated driver or hailing a cab.
City Police Chief J.P. Levesque says they'll be having extra patrols on the streets.
And, as always, the Festive RIDE campaign is still in place for the holiday weekend.
