City officials are optimistic about recent funding for bike lanes and other cycling and commuter infrastructure.
Active Transportation Co-ordinator Adam Krupper says the provincial investment of over $910,000 will let the city dream big.
It was accepted at a recent City Council meeting.
They’re hoping to use part of the money to build a pedestrian and cycling bridge over the McIntyre Floodway, which Krupper says would connect Carrick and Vickers Streets.
“That bridge would allow us to build a parallel cycling route to [one planned for] Memorial Avenue, but with much less traffic,”
The new bridge could be built next year.
Krupper says this is the most the city has ever gotten for these type of cycling projects. (File Photo)
