A couple of pieces of public art in the trendy Bay and Cornwall area of the city are causing some talk. They both look like full size statues of a human being, but a closer look shows them to be stylized as animals.
Artist Brandon Vickerd says he wanted to depict the area's inherent wilderness. He's also pleased that his works are causing people to talk since that's what public art is designed to do.
The sculptures are part of the city's $120,000 beautification project for the area. (Staff photos)
