A positive first step for more Indigenous language education.
Indigenous leaders are discussing efforts to revitalize that part of their cultures, which the Education Minister says includes more language learning in classrooms across Ontario.
Tuesday, the Mitzie Hunter sat down with Indigenous leaders at the 3-day Indigenous Languages Symposium, which wraps up Wednesday.
It's important to make sure these languages are preserved, Hunter says, and listening to Indigenous leaders is an important part of this process.
She notes the conference ties into the government's The Journey Together plan, which includes a committment to including more Indigenous languages in the education system.
