Northwestern Ontario continues to lag behind the rest the province in terms of elementary school performance.
That’s according to the latest report from the Fraser Institute, which ranks over three thousand schools each year.
Peter Cowley is one of the authors of the report and says overall, schools in this region have scores well below the provincial average.
24 schools in the area were in the ranking, with an average score of 4.0 out of ten.
That figure was 6.0 for the rest of the province.
Just five schools in the Northwest are above the average for all schools.
He feels the information is important for parents and educators alike.
