Nishnawbe Aski Nation is calling for an inquiry into a controversial Saskatchewan murder case.
A statement from Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler argues that the legal system failed 22-year-old Colten Boushie from Red Pheasant First Nation, when it acquitted farmer Gerald Stanley on Friday.
Boushie died in August of 2016 on Stanley’s farm.
He calls it outrageous that nobody has been sentenced in Boushie’s death.
Fiddler says the verdict, and the lack of any Indigenous jurors in the case, exposes racism in the justice system.
