Thunder Bay’s two ski hills are hoping to attract a new downhill event call ski-cross.
Dave Bradley is helping to prepare the hills so they can accomodating ski-cross competitions, and he’s pretty pumped about the potential.
“It’s going to create more interest in the sport, build up ridership at the ski areas. People are going to have a blast skiing these tracks,”
Bradley tells us ski-cross competitions only require slight modifications to both Loch Lomond and Mount Baldy ski hills.
An official with Alpine Canada has visited both sites and believes we could easily hold ski cross events.
Bradley indicates it’s possible the hills could be hosting a major Ontario competition in four years.
He’s helping to co-ordinate the proposal which he explains would require some support from City Hall.
The city is helping organizers with the proposal and providing what Bradley refers to as basic funding. (File Photo)
