Thunder Bay area farmers are going to have almost a million dollars available to them to install new drainage systems.
Agricultural Research Association President Kevin Belluz tells us this will come in handy in the spring when lands are naturally waterlogged from the snow melt..
He notes it will allow more farmers to improve their land and expand the production of local food.
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund provided the money to the 23 farms.
Belluz explains that farmers can apply for the funding through the association.
He expects there will be a similar program offered in the future if farmers don't fit into this one or don't get their applications in on time.
