A local taxi company feels that there is room for more taxi licences in the community.
Roach’s Taxi GM Dennis LeBeau says they want the help in servicing the community but they want it to be controlled.
“You can’t just open the doors and then wake up two years from now and realize you jumped into an abyss that we can’t get out of. We do have some concerns and we want a level playing field. If you want to be part of this business be prepared to work your vehicles twenty four hours a day to solve the issues.”
LeBeau is worried that people will buy licences and only run their taxis for six hours during the day.
He says he understands that people find that wait times are too long and that they would like to see more taxi companies operating in Thunder Bay.
Council approved a first report on the legislation at their meeting last night. (File photo)
